Dr Loren Mowszowski
Dr Loren Mowszowski is a Clinical Neuropsychologist and an early-career researcher with the School of Psychology, supported by a competitive NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Development Fellowship. Loren leads the Cognitive Training research stream within the specialised Healthy Brain Ageing Program at the Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney.
Loren’s postdoctoral research focuses on developing, evaluating and implementing a range of clinically-relevant cognitive and psychosocial interventions for older adults at risk of developing dementia (e.g. with Mild Cognitive Impairment or late-life depression), or with mild or early-stage dementia. Outcomes of her research include changes in cognition, neurobiological markers, psychological wellbeing, psychosocial engagement, self-efficacy and carer impact.
Loren also has a special interest in promoting the clinical implementation of cognitive interventions within the field of neuropsychology. She is currently Co-chair of a national working party to develop a position paper on this issue for the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists, as well as convenor of a Sydney-based special interest group in this area.
Loren is a lecturer for the Master of Brain and Mind Sciences postgraduate program at the University of Sydney and supervises both research students (i.e. Honours, Masters, PhD) and clinical neuropsychology trainees.
Loren is a Chief Investigator on a novel multi-site randomised controlled trial of an Interdisciplinary, Home-bAsed Reablement Program (I-HARP) for people with dementia, funded under the NHMRC Boosting Dementia Research scheme. She is Principal Investigator on the CogMax cognitive training and psychoeducation study, due to commence mid-2018, and she is currently working with Dr Haley LaMonica and Professor Sharon Naismith to develop an online cognitive intervention known as CogNet.
Loren has active clinical research collaborations within the University of Sydney (e.g. School of Nursing; School of Psychology, Faculty of Health Sciences), and with the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney.
