I have two main research interests:

A): Remyelination in Multiple Sclerosis

In Multiple Sclerosis (MS), inadequate remyelination leads to progressive demyelination and permanent disability. This lack of remyelination is associated with inadequate phagocytosis by microglia and astrocytes in the site of demyelination. My interest includes how remyelination can be accelerated by the effective modulation of glial cells.

B): Blood-based biomarker of Multiple Sclerosis

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is the primary sample of interest in biomarker discovery in people with MS. However, CSF collection is invasive which is associated with pain and distress. In addition, it is not practical of collecting CSF in regular and long-term monitoring of MS patients. My interest is to find an easily accessible, but central nervous system protein/lipid-rich, blood biomarker as an alternative to CSF for routine research and clinical use.
