Dr Nicholas Koemel

Nicholas Koemel is a trained dietitian and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Physical Activity, Lifestyle, and Population Health department at The University of Sydney. He serves as the Integrative Behavioural Scientist for the Mackenzie Wearables Hub at the Charles Perkins Centre, a dedicated hub for using wearable technology to capture lifestyle behaviours in health-related research. His primary research focuses on the synergistic effects of physical activity, sleep, and nutrition on optimising health outcomes such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and all-cause mortality. Nicholas is also involved in the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting, and Sleep (ProPASS) consortium—an international collaboration of 16 active cohorts aimed at pooling wrist and thigh accelerometry data to improve understanding of the relationship between physical activity, sitting, and sleep and their impact on health outcomes.
