Dr Nikki Wedgwood

Nikki Wedgwood, PhD, is a senior lecturer in Behavioural & Social Sciences in Health at the School of Health Sciences. Her past studies include research on the gendered embodiment of girls and women who play Australian Rules football; the role of sports participation in the lives of young people with physical impairments and;how young people with impairments meet the challenges of transitioning to adulthood. Her current studies include: research on the inclusion of students with intellectual disability in the Australian higher education sector and a study examining the interface between the NDIS and family support services for mothers with intellectual disability in New South Wales.
Sociology of disability, transitioning to adulthood, sociology of sport, gender/masculinity/gendered embodiment, social determinants of health and life history research.

Currently available to supervise or co-supervise doctoral students in any of my areas of expertise, eg sociology of disability, gender/masculinity/gendered embodiment, sociology of sport, life history research.
Nikki's current studies include:
- research on the inclusion of students with intellectual disability in the Australian higher education sector;
- a study examining the interface between the NDIS and family support services for mothers with intellectual disability in New South Wales.
