Biographical details

It was a great pleasure for me to commence as Head of Central Clinical School in mid-2015. I am a clinical immunologist and immunopathologist whose clinical work has been conducted at RPAH since my return from postdoctoral studies at NIH, Bethesda, in 1990.

Prior to my role I held many senior positions in RPAH and Sydney Local Health District including most recently head of the Division of Medicine. Recently I also commenced as a Councillor of the Australian Council for Health Care Standards (RCPA nominee). In the past I served on the Board of CSAHS and long term on the Executive of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy prior to election to the role of President of the Association in the early 2000s. I have held peak advisory roles to the NSW government in matters related to HIV, AIDS and STI and continue to be SLHD Director of HIV Services and to be involved in developing new postgraduate initiatives in education of doctors.

Research interests

I have research interests in the study of retroviral mutations under pressure of drug therapy in HIV and the metabolic complications of therapy for HIV. I have interests in ethics and the implementation of evidence based clinical practice.My interests in medical education span undergraduate through to the training of superspecialists.
