Professor Rachel Skinner is a teaching and research clinical academic in the Discipline of Child and Adolescent Health, Sydney University, and Adolescent Physician at the Children’s Hospital Westmead..
Prof Skinner has current projects and supervised students on the topics of 1) social media use by adolescents and its impact on sexual relationships and health, 2) sexuality and gender diversity in children and adolescents, 3) adolescent health literacy and digital technologies 4) HPV vaccination and 5) adolescent risk-taking behaviour. She is actively seeking students and new collaborations in these fields of work.
Prof Skinner contributes to teaching medical student in paediatrics in the Sydney Medical School and to teaching adolescent health within the curriculum. She is responsible for coordinating the Adolescent Module in Sydney Medical School's on-line Master of Medicine in Paediatrics. She is a deputy postgraduate coordinator for the Discipline of Child and Adolescent Health (over 100 postgraduate research students enrolled). She received a Vice-Chancellor's award for excellence in postgraduate research supervision in 2017.
