Thesis abstract:

Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionising education. A systematic literature review on AI applications in higher education revealed that only 2% of the studies are related to medical education. Despite the growing implementation of AI in certain dental specialties like radiology and orthodontics, its application in dental education systems remains largely underdeveloped. Significantly, theoretical dental education is more advanced in applying AI tools compared to practical or clinical dental education. Accordingly, this study aims to develop and validate new AI models with the goal of enhancing the learning experience in dental pre-clinical sessions.
