Dr Sarah Masso

Dr Sarah Masso is a Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) Fellow (Australian Research Council, DE200101078) and Academic Fellow with the Discipline of Speech Pathology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She is also an adjunct research associate with Charles Sturt University, Australia. Sarah has completed postdoctoral research at Memorial University of Newfoundland (2017), The University of Sydney, Australia (2018-2019) and The University of Lübeck, Germany (2021-2022).

Sarah is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and a member of Speech Pathology Australia and Services for Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH). She is also a member of the International Expert Panel on Multilingual Children’s Speechand contributed to the recent publication exploring the speech assessment of multilingual children who do not speak the same language(s) as the speech-language pathologist.

Sarah’s research interests include the accurate identification and diagnosis of children with early speech and language delay who may also be at risk of literacy difficulties, the implementation of technology to support education, clinical practice and decision-making of speech-language pathologists, and exploring the key features of effective intervention for children with speech sound disorders. She is also committed to supporting the implementation of evidence-based practice in speech pathology practice. Sarah is amember of the Communication Sciences and Disordersresearch team.
