This scholarship is funded by a donation from the de Costa family in memory of Jerome de Costa whose enrolment at SCA was sadly prevented by his untimely death.
a. This Scholarship has been established to assist students with the costs associated with the development and presentation of artwork for exhibit at the undergraduate degree show at the Sydney College of Art.
b. The Scholarship is funded by a donation to the University of Sydney by the de Costa family in memory of Jerome de Costa whose enrolment at SCA was sadly prevented by his untimely death.
a. Applicants must be currently enrolled in their third year of Bachelor of Visual Arts or Bachelor of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies in the Sydney College of Arts at the University of Sydney.
b. Applicants must be completing their studio specialisation in the year of application.
c. Applicants must be planning to exhibit as part of the end of year undergraduate degree show.
d. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need.
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
i. academic merit,
ii. portfolio,
iii. demonstrated financial disadvantage, and
iv. a personal statement demonstrating how the scholarship will support their work to be exhibited.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Scholarships and Prizes Committee of the Sydney College of Art, or their nominated delegates.
a. The Scholarship is valued at $5,000 per annum and is tenable for one year only.
b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in one instalment after the census date of Semester 2 in the year of award.
c. Deferral and/or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of the Scholarships and Prizes Committee of the Sydney College of Art.
d. The scholarship is not transferable to another school, faculty or university.
e. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
f. No other amount is payable.
a. None apply.
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
i. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
ii. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
iii. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or
iv. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
