REMDAS: Participate in a study investigating amphetamine & alcohol use on memory and thinking

If you are over 18 and under 65, you may be eligible for a study investigating amphetamine and alcohol use on memory and thinking. If so, you may be eligible to participate in the REMDAS Study.

What does the study involve?

After an eligibility screening (including a medical assessment), if eligible and interested in the study, you will come in 3 times over 3 consecutive weeks to receive study medication, alcohol, or a placebo in a blinded study (only one substance per session).

You will complete a series of questionnaires and memory tests, alongside some stress-related tasks (evaluated maths tasks and submerging your arm in ice water for a short time). This study also involves blood and urine tests for substance use.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are aged between 18 to 65 years
  • Previous experience of amphetamines (such as ADHD medication, cocaine, MDMA/ecstasy) and alcohol
  • Adequate cognition and English to consent and complete the study
