"I studied in Canada in a commerce degree initially and decided to change paths. I thought that moving half way around the world would be a pretty cool adventure so I decided to come and study at Sydney” – Sean Hassan, Stage 4 Medical Student from Toronto, Canada.

“It’s never too late to change your options or change your career path. I did my bachelor’s in biotechnology and I was really excited to hear about the opportunity of a graduate program [in nursing]. You can do a masters because you already have a bachelor’s degree and it doesn’t matter what you have done before” – Pavana Sampath, Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry) student from India.

"Australian schools have an unmatched international reputation for quality of education, they exhibit cultural diversity, and are located in beautiful, livable cities.

"Studying in Australia has allowed me to pursue the degree I have always wanted, while also providing me the opportunity to live abroad and travel." – Yasmin Samiee, Doctor of Dental Medicine student from Ontario, Canada.

How do Australian-earned qualifications stack up overseas?

Because most health courses are regulated by professional bodies, you will need to have your Australian credentials assessed in your home country when you return to demonstrate your competency to practice.

This assessment ensures that the education and qualifications obtained in Australia are similar to the education and qualifications of a person educated in your home country. You may need to undertake an exam, a criminal history check as well as prove your language skills and then apply for a practising licence.

University of Sydney graduates are trained to think critically, be adaptable and globally aware - traits which serve our international graduates well upon completion of their course.

Before undertaking a professional health course in Australia, please check the registration requirements of your home country.
