The University of Sydney has been ranked first in the Asia-Pacific region and 18th globally in the 2017 Academic Ranking of World Universities for public health.
Head of the University of Sydney School of Public Health, Associate Professor Joel Negin commends the achievement of the school.
“This is a tremendous acknowledgement of the Sydney School of Public Health’s research excellence and leadership.
"We have some of the world’s most highly-cited and policy-relevant researchers in our School and to be recognised as the best School of Public Health in the region is testament to a long history of extraordinary achievement.”
With more than 1400 universities from 80 countries published in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, the ranking was determined by a series of indicators such as research productivity, research quality, the number of papers authored by an institution in an academic subject, extent of international collaboration, and the number of staff winning awards in an academic subject.
The Sydney School of Public Health offers a range of quality postgraduate courses, which ensure students from both health and non-health backgrounds have the skills and knowledge to be effective practitioners and lifelong advocates for improving population health.
